A Loteria card maker for game night
Loteria is Mexico's much-loved cousin of bingo: instead of numbers, a caller draws illustrated cards — El Gallo, La Sirena, La Muerte — and players cover the matching squares on their tabla. This generator builds the paper half of the game for you. Pick player boards to get a batch of randomised tablas, or the calling deck to print all 54 cards on cut-apart sheets.
How to play
- Print one board per player and one copy of the calling deck.
- Cut the deck apart on the dashed lines and shuffle it face down.
- Give every player markers — dried beans, pennies or bottle caps all work.
- The caller draws one card at a time and announces the name aloud.
- Agree on a winning pattern first: a full line, the four corners, or a blackout of every square. The first player to complete it shouts “¡Lotería!”
Board sizes and group size
The traditional tabla is 4x4. Use 3x3 with preschoolers or when you want fast rounds, and 5x5 when you have a big group and want the game to last. Because each board is an independent random draw from the 54-card deck, you can print up to 24 boards at a time without worrying about duplicates.
